Black Balsam  - a pattern from Hampton Quilt Studio

Black Balsam, one of four patterns in the Land of the Sky collection, is inspired by pinwheels and windmills, reminiscent of the feed sack quilts of the 1800’s. This is a beginner-friendly pattern created using half-square triangles, squares, and an easy-to-make method for split quarter-square triangles that make up the pinwheels. 

Black Balsam Knob, near Milepost 420 on the Blue Ridge Parkway in Western North Carolina, is a popular spot due to its easy trail hike to a grassy bald summit with spectacular views and the promise of a stunning show of stars.

This quilt kit comes with the AGF Pure Solids to make the quilt top only. The pattern is not included in the kit and must be purchased from Hampton Quilt Studio. Find it HERE.
