Since transitioning back to being online only, you may have been missing the one-on-one service that shopping in-person offered. Many customers have seamlessly switched to communicating with us over social media messaging and email, however we understand that it is not always easy to explain what you are looking for. That is what this blog is for! This is an example of emails we receive, and how we can offer feedback and answers. Of course, questions that are not shown in this blog are not forbidden, haha; use this as a starting point if you are feeling stuck or overwhelmed with options:)
Example of a customer email:
After receiving an email like this, we will look at what we have and start putting together some options that we think will suit your project and reply to your email with something like this:
We will attach photos of our findings to help you envision what the fabrics will look like together. (we know this can be the hardest part about shopping online). This is often the part of the email where we will add more descriptions and use what we and other people often choose when looking for something similar. In this case, Fableism and Double gauze are our most loved, cozy, breathable baby blanket fabrics so that is what was first offered.

Here is an example of fabric photos that you might receive when communicating with us:

Then if we get it first try (sometimes we don't and go back and forth a couple times until we do) we will receive a response something like this:
We then take your choices and take some more photos with what we think will suite the project.
When we send photos, we do our best to get accurate lighting so that the colours show up as they would in person. It is important to note however that putting colours next to other colours will change appearances without changing the lighting. Please let us know if you have any questions regarding this in your emails and we will do our best to clarify what the most accurate colour is:)
We will do our best to help you succeed by giving you all the information we can to help you decide on what works best for you. Feel free to ask any clarifying questions along the way! The last thing we want is for you to end up with a pile of fabric and no idea what to do with it. (However, we know there are worse "problems" to have)
Example of a reply:
If all goes well and you have decided on some fabrics, we will either offer to create an invoice that we will email to you, or give you a name list of the fabrics for you to create your own order, depending on what works best for you.
The perks of being a small business is that we can prioritize our customers and we love getting to know your styles and seeing your projects come to life! Communicating with our Piece Fabric Co. FAQs
How can I ensure the fabric colour matches my project?
Piece Fabric co. offers sample swatches to be sent through letter mail or along with your order. Samples are a 1"xWOF cut of fabric. To be sent by letter mail, there is a minimum amount of swatches of 5 and maximum of 10. Swatches cost $1 each. To request a set of samples, please email us: info@piecefabric.co. Over email, we are also able to send photos of requested fabrics next to each other to help you compare.
How can I tell which fabric is best for my project?
At Piece Fabric Co. we put our fabrics to the test and are actively learning more about what our different fabrics offer and how they react and handle in various types of projects. Tell us about your project and we will give you options according to our research and experience as to which fabrics will suite your projects.
How do I know how much material I will need?
Different patterns and fabric widths can often leave us with too much or not enough material for our projects. If you are working with a pattern, method, or material that we know, tell us about your project and we can help with the math and let you know what your options are. We can help you get the biggest bang for you buck.
How to care for my fabric?
Most fabrics will have a shrinkage percentage, and will do best being washed on a gentle cold cycle and hung to dry. However if you would like to know more about our specific product send us an email (info@piecefabric.co) and we will do our best to provide tailored information on the topic.
